Fish!

This beautiful pond in the animal field is now filled with fish! Wwoofers lined it with mortar so the water doesn't leak out, and it gets filled from the runoff from the animal water. Ingo bought 2000 tilapia to fill the pond. I think they'll take at least six to eight months to reach maturity - right now they're about the size of a minnow.

Setting Up A Washing Machine!!!!

Last week we built a concrete platform so the farm could have a washing machine. We hauled sand, laid bricks on top, and made a concrete pad on top of the bricks. The Belgian girls made an attractive rock border around the washing machine area. Ingo spent a couple of days cursing at it, trying to get it to work with the generator, and you definitely want to rinse your clothes before you put them in it, but at last, we don't need to hand wash all our clothes!
